For the past year, we have frequently found ourselves visiting the Island of Sodor. For those of you who don't have a toddler or preschooler obsessed with trains, that's the home to Thomas the Tank Engine and his myriad of friends.
Many a car rides have passed while listening to the adventures of Thomas, as presented during the Thomas & Friends Podcasts. I can safely say that we have listened to every single one of the stories multiple times, and they have had a profound effect on play, learning, and storytelling.
Thomas has made his way into countless storytimes, usually with narratives that focus on emotional intelligence. This time, the focus was on practicing some basic preschool Math skills: one-to-one counting, and the concepts of more, most, and least. Reinforcing these concepts through an engaging story, especially one that stars some of Rémy and Sierra's favorite characters, is a big win.
